How to build climate-positive products
A practical, tactical exploration of emerging theory and frameworks for building climate-positive products.
A brief exploration of why product teams have immense leverage in reversing climate change: every job is now a climate job; every company is a software company. And what that leverage looks like:
- the rock solid business case for climate-positive products
- carbon-efficiency 101
- networking costs
- planned obsolescence
- demand shifting / shaping
- design principles
The majority of the session will be geared towards practical exploration of case studies from across discovery, implementation and GTM. We'll focus on a few core examples. However, participants are encouraged to bring questions and case studies of their own for group discussion and Q&A.
Things you should be able to do better after the workshop:
- pitch climate-positive tradeoffs
- understand what not to build
- identify high carbon intensity designs and implementation
- explore lower-carbon intensity designs and implementation
