ProductCamp Vancouver 2024

Welcome!

This year at ProductCamp we will have 3 types of sessions:

  1. Presentations (structured sharing of ideas or information to the audience)

  2. Panels

  3. Workshops

To submit a session: check to see if your idea is already submitted; if not, go for it!

Creativity and diversity of backgrounds is very welcome!
Please select the type of session you are proposing, write a session title, description and a short blurb about the value you bring to the topic.

To vote: click on the appropriate button for a pre-submitted session that interests you.

You have 10 votes in total, ideally distributed across the different session types.
You can always redistribute your votes if a great session gets submitted after you’ve used all 10.

How it works:

  • Mon, Apr 1: Voting closes and the most popular sessions will be shortlisted

  • Tue, Apr 2: Session leaders notified via email

  • Fri, Apr 5: Schedule is finalized and shared with participants

Don’t forget to register to attend at: https://www.productcampvancouver.org

See you at ProductCamp Vancouver on April 6th!

#PCV24

Please note:

  • Anonymous sessions will be deleted

  • Each potential session leader is limited to two session proposals

  • Ideas that are deemed inappropriate for ProductCamp will be flagged &/or deleted

  1. I first started building with LLMs with GPT-2 for millions of jobseekers at Indeed. Now, I'm shipping GPT-4 (and more) products for millions of creators at vidIQ.

With 4 years of LLM experience in B2C and about a dozen LLM product launches under my belt, I will share my biggest regrets that I hope other PMs can avoid. Where possible, I'll pull out AB test results. I also hope to make this interactive so we can all learn from one another!

Here are my biggest regrets that I will go into more detail about:

    • Why Legal will block you, and…

  2. Companies have access to large volumes of user-generated text. It is a mostly unrealized corporate asset. Advances in AI over the past few years can leverage text to make an ~immediate~ impact on the bottom line. Text is now a first-class citizen in the product development life cycle!

If you care about any of these:
    • What can you do with text? Why would you even care?
    • What is the state of the art? Performance? Accuracy? Usefulness? Players?
    • Can user-generated text be used to build a better product? (Yes.) How?
    • Business case? Scenarios? Use cases? Danger zones?

  3. Organizations like to collect a lot of user-generated text... Duh?!... Really?

I bring some examples: reviews, feedback, surveys, interviews, support interactions, chat, call centre, sales notes, call transcripts. There's more.

Users (I mean, like, your customers?) have an implicit expectation that someone will read their feedback and that it will be taken into account. Is it?

In this interactive session, we will share with each other our experiences, success and scars dealing with lots of user-generated content in the Product life cycle. Bring them!

Manuel will break the ice, move the conversation through the topics below, will keep an eye…

  4. It's 2024, and product managers are facing an existential threat.

In a sea of titles like Product Owner, Product Manager, Product Marketing Manager, Product Operations Manager, we’re also faced with “non-product” people who are seemingly doing what we thought we were responsible for. Our roles are morphing, shifting, and increasingly, being questioned.

We live in a world where "product" seems to have more definitions and interpretations than Taylor Swift has fans.

Join us for a lively armchair chat with three seasoned experts as we navigate through the ever-evolving landscape of product management. We will aim to get to the bottom…

  5. This will be an interactive session with Andreas Munk (Founder & CEO of Evara AI) and Paul Save (Founder, Cascadia Data Science Institute | xMicrosoft)

How Important is determining your profit maximizing price point? Have you had challenges pricing with incomplete or imperfect data due to time constraints and wished there was a better method? How many times have you wished there was a better way to update your model with actual prices customers would pay to predict the best price for your product?

In this interactive session, we'll demonstrate the remarkable potential of Bayesian inference for pricing in a…

  8. Leaders recognize the keys to gaining customer trust and loyalty are communication and empathy. Nelson Mandela summarizes this concept precisely when he says: "If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.”

International expansion is one of the most effective drivers in accelerating revenue growth. But in a world comprised of 200 countries, 300 writing systems, 7,000 languages, and evolving cultural landscapes, the challenge to effectively engage and delight customers on the global stage is greater than ever. Successfully…

  19. A big part of our work as product people is communicating with a wide range of stakeholders to drive action and manage expectations. This often means sitting through painful meetings with outcomes that miss the mark.

    • Create a shared sense of empathy?
